Fairy wishes and fairy kisses

It would be magical to have your fairy wishes granted. Just sprinkle some fairy dust and add a little love and compassion. Then close your eyes and make a wish. It is also said that if you kiss a fairy on the hand. She will grant you a wish. But to find a fairy about - well good luck. They are a little hard to find nowadays.
Here is our quote for today featuring a Gothic White Witch, fairy cameo necklace.

Tuesday already - time just flying bye

The older you get, the faster time seems to fly. Where yesterday went I do not know, but its Tuesday already. Not that I ever want to repeat yesterday ever again. It was not a good day for this family. I still have a headache from it! To celebrate or commiserate I have a jewellery quote about it. Depicting the Saxon pin brooch Steam punk style.

A simple pin to fasten to a jacket's lapel or on a shawl with a clear Austrian diamante by Gothic White Witches jewellery.

Introducing Fred and Bert my Zombie dolls

Well I was a bit bored and so made these two Zombie dolls, Fred and Bert. I had grabbed a bag of craft bits and my sewing box to go stay at my son's flat. So using some pipe cleaners and my limited imagination I created these zombies. No I wasn't watching Walking Dead at the time but the scraps of grey and blue material - wasn't fairy bits that I had my first thought to make. So let me introduce them....

Starting with Zombie Fred. Flat cap all a mess with eyes covered by long hair. Yes hair and nails continue to grow after death. Just for a short while though. Before the body starts to deteriorate and rot. He has his arms wide open to catch you and eat you. At some point he has injured his leg and is dragging it behind. He only went to the supermarket to buy some crisps and a sandwich for lunch and this happened!

Now here is young Zombie Bert doll.

Legless Bert, must have had it eaten by other Zombies, but you can not keep a dead Zombie down no matter how many bits are missing!. Young Bert - short for Albert as the "old fashion names" are making a come back today. Was working in a well known supermarket when he met his demise. Now teaming up with Zombie Fred, they roam the supermarket aisles and car park looking for more food. - You.

Gothic quote for today, Cross my heart

Here is a Gothic White Witch quote for today. Cross my heart and hope to die - Set against one of our red cross necklaces. How many times have you said it? Used when you are swearing that what you have just told is no lie.

Cross my heart and hope to die. Never, never tell a lie...

Well here is our Gothic version for this fine Wednesday morn to share and swear never to lie. Or to use when you know that someone is telling a "porkie pie".

Beware lies tend to come back to you and bite you hard though in the bum - when you are least expecting them!!

Celtic Fairy Tales by Joseph Jacobs

My tall bookcase precariously leans to the right as its so full of books. So this morning whilst looking for another book. I came across my copy of "Celtic Fairy Tales" by Joseph Jacobs which is illustrated in black and white by Victor Ambrus. Victor did not illustrate the original books though only this nineties one. This hard backed book was first published in 1891 but my copy is a 1995 version. I have no idea where I brought this fairy tale book and why? But I am glad I did.

It contains the two collections by Joseph Jacobs "Celtic fairy Tales" - which was first published in 1891 and also "More Celtic fairy Tales" published a bit later in 1894. My love of history, and also witches, wizards and all things magical found it a delight! I read some of the tales in this book, told originally long ago by word of mouth and wondered at their origin. Some of these stories go back to the Pagan and pre Christian era. Stories told around the fireside and passed on to future generations to retell in Gaelic. They are pretty gory in places and murder is common in these tales with hags, goblins, fairy maidens, ghosts, sea maidens, kings and giants. Most of the stories came from Ireland originally with a couple from Wales and one from England.

Not only are they fairy stories but an insight into history and for me a glimpse of my ancestors from County Mayo in Ireland. Did they listed or retell some of these? Many people of the eighteenth and nineteenth century and before believed of the existence of fairies, hobgoblins, speaking animals, giants and dwarfs. Superstition was rife and many peasant folk went to some length to ward of bad luck and keep witches away. Primitive pre Christian beliefs including polygamy and that the soul being external and able to exist in an object.

Well my pleasant morning delving into this book has led me to buy an older Fairy tale version by Patrick Kennedy. Kennedy is an Irish ancestor name on my father's side but they were rather prolific!
So I would recommend reading this book if you are interested in the fairy folk and folklore or history.
